Rickey Hatley, DT – Houston Texans
Hatley didn’t really do anything spectacular during his time at Mizzou, collecting just three sacks over four seasons, but there’s something to be said for a defensive tackle who can hold his own as part of an SEC defensive line rotation for three full seasons. The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Hatley did that well, and he’s got a solid combination of size and athleticism. In addition, he was tutored by former Mizzou defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski, who has had about as high of a success rate as anyone when it comes to developing NFL defensive linemen.
Hatley might be an under-the-radar, inexpensive candidate to fill a backup 5-technique defensive tackle role for the Texans. His chances could improve if J.J. Watt has complications while working his way back from back surgery.
