99. So Taguchi

Taguchi, who famously settled upon No. 99 after he requested the retired numbers of Stan Musial (6), Enos Slaughter (9), and Ozzie Smith (1) and the already-taken No. 66 of Rick Ankiel, is the only Cardinal ever to wear 99 and was one of the most famous Redbirds of the 2000s. In 2006, the Japanese import helped the Cardinals to their first World Series victory in 24 years, and he posted a .283/.336/.391 slash line over six seasons in St. Louis.
