Nathan Bastian, RW, Mississauga Steelheads (OHL)

6’4, 205, ranked as #35 North American skater prospect by NHL Central Scouting

Bastian, who’s very physically mature for an 18-year-old and can play all three forward positions, might be one of the best value picks if he lasts until the late first or early second round. Bastian, who has strong potential both offensively and as a reliable defensive forward, really stepped up as a point producer in 2015-16, collecting 19 goals and 40 assists in 64 games this year, which was a major upgrade over the 17 goals and 12 assists that he posted in 68 games last year.

Bastian might not have the highest ceiling, but considering the size, defensive skill, and intellect that he already possesses, he should be able to contribute to an NHL team on some level sooner than later.
