Best of the rest (injuries that cost players fewer than five games): Robert Bortuzzo- two games missed (January 18 & 20) due to lower-body injury; Jay Bouwmeester- four games missed (January 9-16) due to concussion; Colton Parayko- two games missed due to lower-body injury (November 17 & 19), one game missed due to illness (January 20); Vladimir Tarasenko- one game missed due to lower-body injury (October 31), one game missed due to illness (December 31); Scottie Upshall- one game missed due to illness (October 24), one game missed due to injury (October 29)

The Blues have been lucky to only lose Vladimir Tarasenko for two games, especially following a hit from Anaheim’s Shawn Horcoff in late October that was arguably dirty and could have knocked him out for a much longer period than it actually did. The Blues have been offensively challenged in both games that they’ve missed Tarasenko–both of which have come against the Minnesota Wild–but then again, that’s been the case many times when they’ve had Tarasenko in the lineup this season, so perhaps it was good for him to get the rest.

In all, Blues players have missed 202 games due to injury or illness through the first 56 games of the season. While the lack of offensive consistency is inexcusable no matter the circumstances, it really is kind of incredible that they’ve been competitive as frequently as they have and are in such great position to make another playoff run this spring.
