St. Louis Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks: 5 Positives to Take Away from 34-31 Victory

1. The Crowd
There’s no sugarcoating the attendance issues that are going to plague the Rams throughout 2015 as the team plays through a season in limbo. The team announced that only 51,192 tickets were distributed for the 66,000-seat stadium, and many fans came to support the visiting Seahawks. With that said, the fans that were passionate enough to show up on Sunday really were passionate. There was more of a buzz in the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday than there’s been in a long while, perhaps since the last time the team was competitive in the mid-2000s. There were numerous sustained “let’s go Rams” chants throughout the crowd, which hasn’t happened in ages, and the atmosphere was electric after the Rams defense stopped Marshawn Lynch on fourth down to clinch the overtime victory.
The Rams fans showed that they have a little bit of what we’d call a “mean streak” in football; that is, as owner Stan Kroenke has continued to be noncommittal about the team’s future in St. Louis and has done nothing to engage the fanbase, they’ve found ways to motivate themselves and have developed a sort of rebellious passion, uniting as one to put up a fight in defense of their team, or at the very least to give every last bit of fandom they have left as they face the possibility of seeing the final eight NFL games in St. Louis. If the crowd continues to be as energetic as it was on Sunday, it should be a fun 2015 season at the Edward Jones Dome.
