Todd Gurley Likely Won’t Play in the Preseason
By Nic Moody
Just as St Louis Rams fans were graced with the wonderful news of Todd Gurley’s health status, Jeff Fisher put a damper on any hope of seeing him in the preseason. Head coach Jeff Fisher in an interview said it would be “very unlikely” to see Gurley in the preseason, which is both a smart move and a confusing one all at the same time.
On one hand, it seems perfectly smart to let Gurley continue his rehab as long as possible, getting the mental reps in as well as making sure the knee is fully healed. However, this puts a hold on Gurley’s development. Gurley will now likely be thrown into the regular season without a single snap of pro football, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but considering the game is against the tough defense of the Seattle Seahawks, he will likely have to adjust immediately and come out guns blazing.

This also puts a damper on the possible ticket sales. (I mentioned in a previous article how watching Gurley in the preseason could help sell tickets for the regular season.) Fans will have no idea how Gurley will perform once on the field, and neither will Fisher or Snead. It’s all a gamble if Gurley doesn’t play in the preseason.
Even if Rams waited until game four, and only ran Gurley five times, it would still give him a small feel for his offensive line, and the speed of the NFL. There is still plenty of time to see what Fisher decides to do.
What do you think? Should Gurley play in the preseason? Let me know in the comments below.
