St Louis Rams Sign Nick Foles to a Two-Year Extension

The St Louis Rams announced that they have signed quarterback Nick Foles to a two year extension which will keep him signed through 2017. The move had been rumored to be happening for a while, with coach Fisher and General Manager Les Snead hinting at the possibility for weeks. Foles hasn’t even taken a snap in a game for St Louis, but it’s obvious they want him around.

Foles made his presence known, coming into a new city with a new team and immediately making a significant impact. Players are raving behind closed doors and in the locker room about Foles, about his work ethic, his leadership.

It also doesn’t hurt that Nick has had a fairly good camp so far. He has shown that he has an excellent deep ball, and can adjust to the slower tempered offense here in St Louis.

Most fans were hoping to wait to see how Foles did in the upcoming season before signing him to a long-term extension, but Fisher and Snead must like what they are seeing to take a gamble on him.

I wrote an article about why signing Foles long term could pay off, you can read that here.

We will have more details on the financials as soon as we get them, which will likely tell us just how high the front office is on Foles, as well as be the determining factor on what kind of reaction we will get from Rams nation.

UPDATE: Foles’ contract is for roughly 24 million over two seasons. 12 million a year is not a bad price for a first string quarterback.
