Phil Bates

Bates, a 25-year-old out of Ohio University, has bounced around the league since 2012 but still has a chance to be a solid backup receiver in the NFL. The 6-foot-1, 220-pounder was part of the Seahawks’ practice squad for all of 2012 and 2013, but he earned a spot on the team’s active roster for portions of 2014 and made his regular-season debut in October. After being released again by Seattle, Bates decided to join the Cleveland Browns and was on their active roster for the last week of the season after starter Josh Gordon was suspended. Bates was recently released by Cleveland.

He may be similar, if not inferior, to Givens, but Bates would at least give the Rams another wideout with some NFL experience who could be prepared to step into a depth role if any of the top five projected receivers went down.
