12. Cleveland Browns- Danny Shelton, DL, Washington

Ideally, Cleveland would like to have a legitimate franchise quarterback or a number one receiver available here. Unfortunately, while Marcus Mariota has better potential, he is not much more of a sure thing than Johnny Manziel is at this point, and the three star receivers in this class are already off the board by the time Cleveland is on the clock.

Instead, Cleveland gets the chance to bolster their defensive line with the addition of Shelton. The 6-foot-2, 343-pounder plays a style similar to Phil Taylor’s, but as Mike Pettine showed with the Buffalo Bills, he’s willing to utilize all the massive defensive linemen he can get his hands on. Shelton is a surprisingly athletic, versatile player who could contribute at either the nose tackle or 5-tech spots, and he has enough pass-rushing ability to make him an immediate upgrade over space-eaters like Billy Winn and Ahtyba Rubin.
