2015 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Super Bowl Edition
Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports
With the Super Bowl now concluded and all coaching vacancies now filled (as soon as Atlanta officially hires Dan Quinn), we can start getting a bit more serious about making mock draft projections. As it does every year, free agency will change every team’s needs, but at least now we can make guesses with decent knowledge about what type of schemes the teams are going to use during 2015, and we’ve had the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game to provide better insight into how some of the top 2015 prospects perform under pressure.
The way this mock draft is set up, I’m making the picks as if I was the general manager for each team. That doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m just going with the best player on my board, though. There are instances where a few players who I have rated rather highly, including Stanford’s Henry Anderson, Oregon’s Jake Fisher, and West Virginia’s Quinton Spain, are not being talked about by anyone as first-round candidates. Therefore, I would wait to pull the trigger on one of those guys and address another need in Round 1.
Also, there are some good players like Texas A&M’s Cedric Ogbuehi and Oregon’s Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (season-ending injuries) or Dorial Green-Beckham (serious character concerns) that would go higher if they were free of concern, but will drop due to their respective question marks. That especially applies to players with character questions, as there are certain teams (Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings) that are probably going to want to steer clear as much as possible from potential off-the-field issues due to recent scandals within their organizations.
Ultimately, most of these picks probably won’t be correct, but it’s better to try to effectively fill every team’s needs rather than taking wild guesses at what kind of crazy things they’re going to end up doing on draft day.
Without further ado, here are picks 1-32:
Next: 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
