“Mizzou can’t compete in the SEC”
“Mizzou doesn’t have the resources to win consistently in the SEC”
“Mizzou can’t recruit well enough to beat the big boys of the SEC”
All of these quotes or different variations of these quotes were what all the critics were saying about Mizzou and their decision to head to the SEC. I’ll admit, I wasn’t sold on the move to the SEC. On Saturday, the Tigers finally showed the college football world that they could compete against the best in the SEC. They proved that the style of play that they played in the Big 12 could be enough to win in the SEC.
Sure the Bulldogs didn’t have their top 2 running backs playing in the game but it didn’t matter. The Tigers dominated the tempo of the game. It took defense, offense and trick plays to get the job done. Now the Tigers are 6-0 and in 1st place in the SEC East. The Tigers still have to play the Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gators are reeling at this point and the Gamecocks aren’t that impressive. The Tigers have a legitimate shot to go to the SEC Championship.
Critics believed that the Missouri Tigers would be an afterthought in the SEC, now they are making themselves heard and it’s a beautiful thing.
