The Cardinals have the best record in baseball at the All Star Break. The Cardinals have made the World Series each time they have had the best record in baseball at the All-Star break. So what are the expectation for the St. Louis Cardinals in the second half?
Will trade for more pitching.
The talk earlier in the week was that the Cardinals could be a likely destination for Matt Garza. That could still happen but I would bet on the Rangers getting it done because I don’t think the Cardinals want to trade away an elite prospect to the Cubs for Garza. I do believe they will make a move for 1, maybe 2 relievers. I think someone you will see the Cardinals become interested in is Padres reliever Hudson Street.
Shelby Miller will not be shut down.
Shelby Miller might not go for complete games or deep into games but he won’t be completely shut down. Chris Carpenter might come out of the bullpen this season and maybe get a spot start or two. The Cardinals can’t afford to shut him down, Chris Carpenter might not be at his best this year so the Cardinals need Shelby Miller.
The Cardinals will finish with 100 wins.
This is my bold statement. I don’t know how bold that is but the Cardinals need to win 43 of their final 69 games. That is doable for the Cardinals.
