This will be the fourth meeting between the teams this season, with Chicago leading the series 2-1.

The Winter Classic is an annual event put on by the NHL and sponsored by Bridgestone.

The venue features storied and popular franchises, and is played outdoors. The first Classic was played on January 1, 2008 and featured the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Buffalo Sabres.

This outdoor event has grown in popularity and rivals only the Stanley Cup for ratings in the U.S. The teams help bolster the enthusiasm by wearing “throwback” uniforms.
