RD7. Chase Pinder, CF, Clemson
With their seventh-round selection, the Cardinals swiped right on Pinder, the brother of Oakland A’s rookie utility man Chad Pinder. The younger Pinder is considered a plus defender with solid doubles power. He’s undersized at just 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, and as a seventh-rounder, he’ll have the odds stacked against him a bit. But Pinder seems like the type of player that could grind his way through the minor leagues and beat the odds to contribute one day in St. Louis.
