63. Chris Perez

Unfortunately, Chris Perez’s career burned out quickly because of drug issues and an inability to develop consistent command. Before all that drama happened, however, Perez was a Cardinals first-rounder and the most intriguing relief prospect in baseball, and he broke into the big leagues with plenty of promise in 2008. Wearing No. 63, Perez debuted to the tune of a 3.46 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 42 strikeouts and 22 walks over 41 2/3 innings in ’08. He switched to No. 34 before the 2009 season, and he was dealt to the Indians for Mark DeRosa midway through that season, and he went on to make the All-Star Game twice as Cleveland’s closer.
