Aarion Penton, CB – Los Angeles Rams

Since leaving St. Louis, the Rams have for some reason engaged in the twisted practice of bringing in more St. Louis-born players than they ever did while actually in the city. This trend continued on Saturday, as they signed Penton, a CBC alum. He joins fellow St. Louisans Paul McRoberts (Soldan) and Michael Jordan (Hazelwood Central), who made the team as undrafted free agents last season.

Next: Browns Draft St. Louisan Roderick Johnson

While he’s somewhat undersized at 5-foot-10 and 198 pounds, Penton showed the ability to be a major playmaker, leading the SEC with five interceptions in 2016. He may have been drafted had there not been concerns about his two arrests for marijuana possession while at Mizzou. Now, Penton has the opportunity to break through in a cornerback corps that is very unestablished but has quite a bit of depth with returning starters Trumaine Johnson, E.J. Gaines, and Troy Hill and free agent additions Kayvon Webster and Nickell Robey-Coleman.
