A 27-year-old Pierre Turgeon arrived in St. Louis early in the 1996-97 season, and he proceeded to put together five extremely strong seasons during one of the most prosperous eras in Blues history. With Turgeon on the roster, the Blues won four playoff series, including two as they advanced to the Western Conference Finals following the 2000-01 season.

Turgeon had at least 20 goals and 60 assists in each of his five seasons with the Blues, and he capped it all off with a standout 2000-01 campaign in which he led the team with 82 points, collecting 30 goals and 52 assists over 79 games.

Turgeon also starred in the playoffs for the Blues. During a three-season span from 1997-98 to 2000-01, Turgeon averaged exactly one point per game over 35 postseason contests while also posting a plus-9 rating.

Turgeon is tied for sixth in franchise history in plus-minus (plus-65), 10th in goals per game (0.41), fourth in assists per game (0.68), and seventh in points per game (1.09). His plus-30 rating in 1999-2000 is the 10th-best single-season plus-minus in Blues history. He received votes for the Lady Byng Trophy in four of his five seasons with the Blues, and he also received votes for the Selke Trophy in 1999-2000.
