11. Garry Unger

Forward, 1971-79; 662 games, 292 goals, 283 assists, minus-113 rating, 744 PIM

He doesn’t get quite as much credit as he probably deserves because he played during one of the least successful eras in Blues history, but Garry Unger was the first player who truly served as the face of the franchise, and he’s definitely one the best players in franchise history. Unger scored at least 30 goals in all eight of his full seasons with the Blues, topping out at 41 in 1972-73. While his assists dropped off significantly as he aged–which was partially due to the fact that he didn’t have very many talented teammates during the later years of his Blues career–Unger also had three seasons with 80 or more points through his first five seasons in St. Louis.

Unger, who rotated as one of the Blues’ captains from 1970-72, is sixth in franchise history in games played, fourth in goals, sixth in assists, and fourth in points. He was also the first player in Blues history to have a 40-goal season.
