Monday’s Winter Classic was an event that we won’t soon forget.

A passionate group of hockey fans descended upon Busch Stadium and Ballpark Village Monday morning for the 2017 Bridgestone Winter Classic, the first-ever outdoor game that the St. Louis Blues have ever hosted or even participated in. As opposed to a standard matchup with the Chicago Blackhawks at Scottrade Center, in which the crowd tends to be soaked in red, this was very much a Blues-dominated crowd, with St. Louisans eager to engage in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The weather may not have been picture perfect–an unfavorable forecast threatened to delay the game, and though it started on time and was finished without a single delay, rain fell heavily during the first period and intermittently throughout–but the event more than lived up to the hype, as the game remained close for the first two-and-a-half periods, then the Blues broke through and came away with a 4-1 victory.

Monday’s event provided a spectacular mix of memorable on-ice and off-ice happenings. Here are a few takeaways from the Classic that we’ll remember for the long haul:
