Thanksgiving might not be the greatest for Petteri Lindbohm.

The St. Louis Blues made a Thanksgiving Day transaction, assigning defenseman Petteri Lindbohm to the AHL Chicago Wolves on Thursday morning. After dressing for his first five games after being recalled on November 7, Lindbohm had been a healthy scratch for the past three with Robert Bortuzzo having returned from injured reserve.

Lindbohm appeared in five games during his recent NHL stint, failing to register a point while posting a minus-3 rating and spending four minutes in the penalty box. Those numbers may look less than stellar at face value, but the rating and penalty minutes came as part of a collectively bad effort in the team’s 8-4 loss at Columbus on November 12. For most of his tenure, Lindbohm was very steady while paired with Colton Parayko.

With Lindbohm going back to Chicago, it’s likely that Joel Edmundson will be ready to play again sooner than later. The defenseman has been skating with the team again as he works his way back from an upper-body injury, but still has not played in a game since November 6.

The Blues are about to embark on a five-game homestand when they return to action on Saturday against Minnesota. Theoretically, with full health, the Blues could reasonably get by with six defensemen until they hit the road again on December 8. It’s possible, however, that Lindbohm–who makes the pro-rated portion of a $60,000 salary when he’s in the minors–could return to serve as a depth player if Edmundson isn’t ready after the two-day layoff.
