44. Kevin Shattenkirk

Defenseman, 2011-present; 373 games, 51 goals, 171 assists, plus-32 rating, 243 PIM (as of November 1, 2016)

Shattenkirk has never been a top-pairing defenseman for any prolonged period since arriving in St. Louis back in 2011, but he’s managed to make a massive impact as a power-play quarterback and a point-producing, puck-moving blueliner. Despite the fact that he’s spent just four full seasons with the Blues (plus 26 games after being acquired in 2010-11, a lockout-shortened 2013 campaign, and nine games of the 2016-17 season through November 1), Shattenkirk’s accomplishments while wearing the Blue Note have been plentiful.

Shattenkirk has had 30 or more assists during every full season he’s spent with the Blues, and he’s had double-digit goals in two (2013-14 and 2015-16). With three goals through nine games this season, it seems as if he’s on pace to reach the double-digit mark again. He played for Team USA during the 2014 Olympics, was an All-Star during the 2014-15 season, and has earned Norris Trophy votes during two seasons (2011-12 and 2014-15).

He gets kind of a raw deal, because he’s always been considered the second-best defenseman on the team behind Alex Pietrangelo, and he’s competing for all-time position in an organization that’s had plenty of star defensemen, such as Jeff Brown, Chris Pronger, and Al MacInnis. With that said, Shattenkirk has been one of the Blues’ most impactful players for going on six seasons now, and he’s done enough to carve out a spot among the top 50 players in the team’s history.
