45. Blake Dunlop

Forward, 1979-83; 324 games, 86 goals, 201 assists, minus-6 rating, 118 PIM

Blake Dunlop was yet another player who played in a very high-scoring era of the NHL, but did plenty to justify being on this list. Dunlop’s name pops up a couple times in the franchise record book; he’s ninth in single-season assists (67) and ninth in career shooting percentage (16.6%).

He scored at least 18 goals for his first four of the five seasons in which he wore the Blue Note. He was also a great setup man, collecting 44 or more assists for three straight seasons from 1980-81 to ’82-’83. All of his production peaked in ’80-’81, when he scored 20 goals and added 67 assists over 80 games.

In addition, Dunlop was widely regarded as a courageous player who was a good person off the ice. He twice received votes for the Lady Byng Trophy (the NHL’s award for the player who best combines sportsmanship with great on-ice performance), and he won the Masterson Trophy (the award presented to the player who best exhibits qualities of perseverance and sportsmanship) in 1980-81.
