41. Rob Ramage

Defenseman, 1982-88; 441 games, 67 goals, 229 assists, minus-41 rating, 898 PIM

Rob Ramage may not have been the same type of disciplined defenseman in his own end that other great Blues such as Chris Pronger and Alex Pietrangelo have been over the years. But his skill set was extremely conducive to the offense-driven, heavy-hitting era that he played in, and he was a great member of the Blues because of it.

Ramage’s grittiness and superior offensive ability made him a favorite of 1980s Blues fans. He led Blues defensemen in points during five of the six seasons that he spent in St. Louis, and he surpassed the 50-point mark three times while wearing the Blue Note, collecting as many as 16 goals (1982-83) and 56 assists (1985-86). He made three All-Star teams with the Blues (1984, 1986, and 1988). Ramage is 10th on the franchise leaderboard in career assists and seventh in penalty minutes.

In a recent interview with FOX Sports Midwest, Blues legend Bob Plager said that “There’s no player who worked harder than Rob Ramage and gave as much to this organization as he did on and off the ice.” That’s about the finest praise you can receive from a man who’s had a closer association with the Blues organization than any other through its 50-year history, and it puts Ramage right outside the top 40 among the most outstanding Blues players of all time.
