With long-time ace Adam Wainwright’s struggles this season, can they really count on him to win an all-or-nothing Wild Card game? If not, who do they go to?

Veteran All-Star Adam Wainwright’s shortcomings this season have been well documented. As a fan, watching his performance decline this year begs the question: have we seen the last of the big right-hander’s dominance?

It’s hard to say whether Wainwright has just been defeated by nagging injuries throughout the summer or if the Cardinals ace is just starting to show his age. Either way, his 4.57 earned run average this year just isn’t getting it done.
