NFL Scores and Reactions from Week 3 in the Midwest
Colts 26 (1-2), Chargers 22 (1-2)
As I predicted in a recent article, it was close game throughout this one. Despite being depleted with injuries (Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Antonio Gates all out), Phillip Rivers had his Chargers in a position to win throughout the game, going 26 for 39 with 330 yards through the air.
The key factor in this one was that Andrew Luck was held upright for the most part, only being sacked twice. Because of that, he was able to complete 24 of his 37 attempts and throw for 331 yards and a touchdown. 174 of those yards went to T.Y. Hilton, who hauled in what would turn out to be the game-winning, 63-yard touchdown with only 1:17 left in the game. Did I say that the Colts would pull away late and win? Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. ( I did.)
