Matt Adams

The Cardinals have stumbled into some nice continuity with Adams on the shelf, utilizing a platoon of Matt Carpenter and Brandon Moss at first base. Thus, it’s difficult to determine how much playing time Adams will actually get when he comes back, but nevertheless, he’s apparently the Cardinal who’s closest to getting back on the field, as he’s expected to begin a rehab assignment this weekend. At the very least, he should be a productive pinch hitter, as he’s hit .385 with two homers in that role this season. Expect him to come back and battle with guys like Jeremy Hazelbaker and Kolten Wong for a potential playoff bench spot during September.
