Red Schoendienst, 1950

After coming on to replace Jackie Robinson in the 11th inning of the 1950 All-Star Game, which was tied 3-3 at the time, Red Schoendienst created perhaps the most memorable moment ever for a Cardinal in an All-Star Game. Facing Detroit’s Ted Gray in the top of the 14th, Schoendienst hit a solo home run to left field. It’d go on to be the decisive blow in a 4-3 win for the NL.
