There’s only 71 days left until the Missouri Tigers kick off their 2016 season against West Virginia, so today we honor number 71 for the Tigers, offensive lineman Kevin Pendleton.

Four of the Missouri Tigers’ starting offensive linemen exhausted their eligibility at the conclusion of the 2015 season, so they’ll be faced with finding four new starters to go along with second-year starter Nate Crawford heading into 2016.

One of the players who’s expected to step up is 6-foot-4, 315-pound guard Kevin Pendleton.

Pendleton has yet to start a game during his first two years in the Mizzou program, but that will almost certainly change this year. He earned a spot on the two-deep depth chart in 2015 and played in three games, meaning that he’ll actually be one of the most experienced linemen on the roster going into the season. There’s a small chance that Pendleton could be beaten out by second-year guard AJ Harris, who was the top recruit from the state of Kansas in 2015 but redshirted last season, but the ball is obviously going to be in Pendleton’s court heading into camp.

Pendelton, a native of Kansas City and a product of Lee’s Summit West High School, was ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals. Interestingly, he also received interest from the University of Memphis, and the man charged with recruiting him was none other than Barry Odom, his new head coach heading into 2016. While the Tigers’ offensive line might not be the best this year as it undergoes major reconstruction for the second straight season, Pendleton will be an interesting guy to follow along with because of his mix of athleticism, size, and intelligence.
