10 First-Round NHL Draft Prospects Who Could Interest the St. Louis Blues
Brett Howden, C, Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)
6’2, 193, ranked as #22 North American skater prospect by NHL Central Scouting
Howden might not have the spectacular size or unbelievable offensive potential of some other center prospects in this draft, but he’s a player who seems to be at least solid in every area and should be a good second or third-line center down the road. He’s considered to be a strong skater with marketable skills both offensively and defensively, and one of the most talked-about elements of his game is his ability to stay strong with the puck and shake off opponents. Howden collected 24 goals, 40 assists, and 61 penalty minutes in 68 games for Moose Jaw this year. Perhaps he could grow into a David Backes-like all-around contributor at center if given some time to develop.
