Cody Sedlock, RHP, Illinois

Sedlock is yet another big college starter that seems primed to advance quickly through the minors and help a team sooner than later, even if his upside isn’t as high as that of some other guys. The 6-foot-4, 210-pounder throws a low-to-mid-90s fastball and mixes in a slider, curveball, and changeup, though his curve and change are said to need development.

In 14 starts this season, Sedlock went 5-3 with a 2.49 ERA, .219 opponent average, 116 strikeouts, and 31 walks over 101.1 innings. If the Cardinals choose to go down the road of the Luke Weaver/Michael Wacha type again, opting for high floor over high ceiling, Sedlock would be an interesting candidate for them either at pick 23 or at the end of the first round.
