Remembering Recent Non-Roster Invitees Who Have Made the St. Louis Cardinals’ Opening Day Roster
Miguel Batista, RP, 2011
Though he spent only about two-and-a-half months in a Cardinal uniform, Miguel Batista earned a World Series ring in 2011 after making the Cardinals’ club out of spring training. He served as the long reliever, pitching in 26 games and accumulating a 4.60 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and .241 opponent batting average. After giving up eight runs in 1.2 innings over his last three appearances, Batista was released on June 22 and went on to pitch nine games for the Mets, including four starts, later that season.
