St. Louis Blues: 5 Players with Something to Prove After the All-Star Break
Patrik Berglund
Since making his 2015-16 season debut on January 3, Patrik Berglund has looked much more like the offensively productive two-way forward that he was from his NHL debut up until the lockout-shortened 2013 season. Through Berglund’s first 12 games, he has six points. Thus, he’s averaging a point every other game, a figure that’s much closer to the 0.53 points per game he put up from the start of 2008 to the spring of 2013 than the 0.38 that he produced over the past two seasons.
Through the Blues’ final 30 games, Berglund has the opportunity to keep up his productive pace and show himself to be the player that earned a three-year, $11.1 million-dollar contract prior to last season. They’ll need him to do that if this current group is to be a viable offensive team down the stretch, seeing as top centers Jori Lehtera and Paul Stastny have combined for just 44 points thus far, while players like Troy Brouwer and Magnus Paajarvi have recently played top-six minutes but have been there more for their ability to bring energy than their offensive ability.
