The St. Louis native played for Texas this season.

Missouri men’s basketball head coach Kim Anderson announced today that Texas forward Jordan Barnett has transferred to the school. Barnett, a St. Louis native, was a sophomore at Texas. Per NCAA rules, he will sit out for a year and will be eligible in the second half of the 2016-17 season.

Coming out of high school, Barnett was the top recruit in the state of Missouri; Rivals.com ranked him 70th on their top 100. Barnett did not get much playing time in Texas, averaging just 8.1 minutes a game while in Austin. He has only played in four games for the Longhorns this year, attempting seven shots.

Getting a top recruit, even a slightly older one, is a large coup for Missouri. Despite the postseason ban, Missouri and Kim Anderson should be looking forward to the 2016-17 as they land another underclassman.
