2015 Arch Awards: Who was the MVP of St. Louis Sports This Year?
Billy Hurst-USA TODAY Sports
Vladimir Tarasenko, RW, St. Louis Blues
After a breakout 2014-15 season in which he led the Blues with 37 goals and 73 assists, 24-year-old Vladimir Tarasenko has been even more electrifying to this point in the 2015-16 campaign. The right winger has been carrying the Blues’ offense as of late and has 19 goals, which ranks him second in the NHL, as well as 13 assists through 31 games. Since signing his eight-year, $60 million-dollar contract extension this offseason, he’s clearly emerged as the face of the Blues franchise, and he’s without question the most exciting goal scorer to play for the team since Brett Hull departed in 1998.
Tarasenko can be under-appreciated at times in St. Louis because many fans don’t fully realize just how good he is compared to other players in the league. It’d be difficult, though, to make an argument for a player in St. Louis who is better than as many of his peers as Tarasenko is right now.
