St. Louis Blues: Top 20 Goal Scorers in Franchise History
8. Jorgen Pettersson
Pettersson broke into the NHL with the St. Louis Blues as a 24-year-old, and he started getting after it immediately. Over 62 games in 1980-81, the rookie had 37 goals and 36 assists, and he continued building on that campaign with 38 goals and 69 points in 81-82, then 35 goals and 73 points in 82-83. The lanky winger had two more seasons with over 20 goals before departing St. Louis in 1985, then returning to his native Sweden just a season later.
Perhaps the factor that gave Pettersson the greatest advantage over a player like Keith Tkachuk in this process is that he was also so productive during the postseason. Over 36 playoff games with the Blues, Pettersson had 14 goals and 10 assists. He was exceptionally productive during the 1983-84 season, leading the team with seven goals in 11 games.
