3. Mark Barron

Barron has made a completely seamless transition to the Rams’ starting weakside linebacker role, and despite what the folks at Pro Football Focus will have you believe, he’s doing an absolutely fantastic job filling Alec Ogletree’s role (and if anyone disputes that, just ask them how many touchdowns the Rams have given up since Barron officially assumed the starting job…hint: the answer is less than one). According to ESPN’s box score, Barron had a team-leading 10 tackles on Sunday, and he also had two tackles for loss. Barron’s ability to make an impact on nearly every play is downright special, and with the prolific performance that he’s delivered over the past two weeks at the linebacker position, it’s becoming more ridiculous by the minute to think that Barron is going to return to his natural safety position (which he hasn’t really played in a regular season game since he joined the Rams, anyway). He’s quickly starting to make an argument for being the Rams’ most impactful defensive player, and he’s also finally living up to the billing as the seventh overall pick in the 2012 draft.
