Get Saffold’s replacement up to speed as fast as possible
The biggest mistake here would be to “try out” offensive linemen to fill Rodger Saffold’s spot. This is why training camp exists. Fisher should already know how his guys can block, and the best option is to pick a replacement, and throw him into the scheme immediately. The more first team reps Saffold’s replacement gets, the easier the transition will be given the extra week. With Todd Gurley finding his groove, and the offensive line already being a hot mess, the Rams need someone to step up immediately, and a backup looking for a starting job might just be able to help in different ways. The obvious choice would be Garrett Reynolds, who has experience and would be a way easier fix at this point in the season. Reynolds has plenty of starting experience and could offer some help to the younger guys on the offensive line (meaning pretty much the other four).
