Missouri Tigers QB Drew Lock to start against Florida as Maty Mauk’s Suspension Continues

Becoming Missouri’s first true freshman quarterback to start a game since Corby Jones in 1995, Drew Lock went 21-28 with 136 yards and two touchdowns in Mizzou’s 24-10 win over South Carolina on Saturday in his debut as a starter.
Lock will indeed make his second career start against Florida this week as he has been listed as the starting quarterback, according to Missouri’s official depth chart released today. In other related quarterback news, according to Pete Scantlebury, Maty Mauk’s suspension will continue and will still be suspended for the Florida game.
Florida (5-0, 3-0 SEC) is ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll and No. 11 in AP coming off a 38-10 victory over Ole Miss Saturday night. The Gators are the only undefeated team in the SEC East while Mizzou (4-1, 1-1 SEC) is in need of a win to keep their hopes alive for winning the SEC East again.
It will be a huge Saturday in the SEC East race with Mizzou vs Florida and Georgia (4-1, 1-1 SEC) traveling to Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC) is an absolute must win game for the Volunteers. With a Mizzou win and a Georgia loss, the SEC East race will be wide open yet again.

It is going to be a tough task as Florida looks like they are back under head coach Jim McElwain, but a huge opportunity looms for Mizzou with a chance for a win over a top-15 team.
It should be a great atmosphere in Columbia, being a primetime game for homecoming. Kick-off for Saturday night’s game is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

– In their first three home games this season, Mizzou has outscored their opponents 31-0 in the second half.
