The St Louis Rams need to turn their offense around fast.

The St Louis Rams had a very bad showing last Sunday against the Washington Redskins, and the high hopes the St Louis Rams fans had after the week one victory against the Seahawks seemed to have all but faded away. The Rams did a lot better this Sunday than last, but it still wasn’t enough to get the victory.

  • The Rams defense played an outstanding game against Pittsburgh. Holding an offense of this talent to just twelve points was a huge confidence booster for the Rams. Antonio Brown caught eleven passes for 108 yards, and Big Ben threw 20-24, but there still was no touchdowns given up through the air. The Rams also did a solid job of containing Le’Veon Bell, holding him to only 3.3 yards a carry in his first game back after serving a two game suspension. On the other hand, Bell caught seven passes for 70 yards. So six to one half dozen to the other. Alec Oggletree followed up his outstanding performance last week with another wonderful outing. He finished Sunday with nine tackles and two sacks. James Laurinaitis finished with eight tackles on the day, but became the all0time Rams leader in tackles.

The real downside to the Rams performance Sunday was the offense. The Rams offense was only able to put up two field goals. The Rams strived really hard in the first three quarters to get the run game going, but it was to no avail as the Rams running backs were only able to gain 37 yards on the ground combined. The Rams did get to finally use their first round pick in Todd Gurley, but without any blocking whatsoever, there was nowhere to run. The passing game was solid, but the Rams still struggled with drops and missed opportunities. Kenny Britt had a wonderful game, catching over 100 yards. Tavon Austin also seems to be getting more involved, catching five passes for 38 yards.

The Rams drove down the field late in the game, and on fourth down Foles threw a pass to Kenny Britt that was called a first down, but then was reversed in the review. Some fans questioned the terrible call, saying there was not conclusive evidence, (because there wasn’t 100 percent conclusive evidence) but it didn’t matter. The game ended with plenty of missed opportunities from the Rams.

The Rams have caused the Steelers some harm however, with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger being diagnosed with a sprained MCL after a Mark Barron sack. He will likely miss six weeks.

The Rams play the red-hot Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
