The St Louis Rams have some support heading into the opener.

The St Louis Rams have some high expectations, apparently. The Rams always give Seattle a tough time when they come to St Louis, and many NFL analysts have taken notice. Despite the Rams going 6-10 last season, many experts have picked them to win over Seattle on Sunday despite Seattle coming off of back to back super bowl visits.

ESPN analyst Skip Bayless announced on First Take that he believes the Rams could, “Explode and pull off another big upset”. He also credited the defense of the Rams, especially in the front seven. Skip also mentioned that Seattle is down Safety Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas is still coming off of an injury, which could give St Louis an advantage.

It’s not just Skip though; many analysts have picked the Rams as their “upset” pick of the week. CBS.com’s experts have a 5-3 advantage with five analyst voting for a Rams victory. There is more support and excitement for the Rams this season than there has been for the last several years, despite a less than average preseason performance.

NFL.com, ESPN, and many other third-party sites have the Rams victory as their “upset” pick. Stating that given past game outcomes, combined with the overall matchup between the two teams gives a huge advantage to St Louis. Some sites even mentioned that basically if the Rams were to upset the Seahawks, not too many people would be surprised.

Most fans are voting for the Seahawks, but most average fans would considering the record differences and such. The thing is, the Rams actually do have a great chance to beat the Seahawks given many of the circumstances. The teams match up very well, in many different ways. (that’s a different article that will come tomorrow.)

Many factors form into why the Rams have more support. They have a brand new quarterback who has proven he can win, with new weapons on defense, including Nick Fairley and Akeem Ayers. The Rams also retained many of their talent from last year, giving a lot more time for development and chemistry.

So fans need to be very loud, and present. The Rams will likely need the 12th man to help out all they can. Even with Seattle having some missing players, they are still a great team that will give St Louis some headaches.
