St. Louis Cardinals: Which Players Will Join the Roster in September?
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports
Matt Holliday, LF
Obviously, Holliday is a key part of the Cardinals’ plans for the rest of the season. The team hopes that their starting left fielder, who is hitting .290/.409/.420 with four homers and 31 RBI in 207 at-bats this year, can return by mid-September and be part of their lineup for the postseason. While the Cardinals have done a great job of maintaining a superior level of play in Holliday’s absence, he’d be a major upgrade over guys like Brandon Moss and Mark Reynolds in the everyday lineup if healthy.
