St. Louis Rams Rookie WR Isiah Ferguson Done for Season
As he announced on Twitter on Friday, St. Louis Rams rookie wide receiver Isiah Ferguson will miss the 2015 season after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus. Ferguson had been with the Rams since signing as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas Pine-Bluff this spring.

Ferguson’s odds were not great to make the team, as the Rams already have four receivers that are virtually locked into spots–Kenny Britt, Stedman Bailey, Tavon Austin, and Brian Quick–with guys like Chris Givens, Emory Blake, and Damian Williams more firmly in the mix for any extra wideout spots that may exist on the 53-man roster. However, Ferguson had flashed at times during training camp practices, so it’s rough for him that he’ll no longer even have a shot to make an impact during his rookie campaign.
Depending on what the Rams decide to do with him, it’s possible that the injury could be a blessing in disguise for Ferguson. He’ll have to be kept on injured reserve until he’s deemed healthy by a doctor, which gives him several months to work out and get more familiar with the Rams’ playbook. Ferguson is an intriguing physical prospect at 6-foot-5 and 218 pounds with a 40-inch vertical and a 10-foot, seven-inch broad jump. Thus, there’s no reason to think that he won’t be able to come back out and compete for a job next offseason, especially considering that the Rams face the possibility of losing Brian Quick to free agency after this season.
