St. Louis Rams at Oakland Raiders: Broadcast Schedule, Live Stream, Start Time, & More
The St. Louis Rams kick off their preseason schedule on Friday evening against the Oakland Raiders. The two teams have met 18 times previously in the preseason (with Oakland holding an 11-7 edge in the series), and they also played during the 2014 regular season, with the Rams demolishing Oakland 52-0.
Most of the Rams’ starters are expected to get brief action on Friday, though the Rams coaching staff will undoubtedly be extra-cautious since the O.co Coliseum is still in full baseball mode, with a dirt infield present on the grid, which renders playing conditions less than ideal. Coach Jeff Fisher stated that even the Rams’ greenest starters, rookie offensive linemen Rob Havenstein and Jamon Brown, will only get a few series on Friday. We’ll see if that provides any sort of competitive disadvantage for the rookie starters going forward; left tackle Greg Robinson, a rookie last year, was afforded extensive playing time during his rookie preseason, yet was still deemed unfit to start for the first four weeks of the 2014 regular season.

A few key things to pay attention to on Friday night will be the performance of the Rams’ centers, all of whom are still vying for the starting role this season; the play of the running backs in the absence of first-rounder Todd Gurley, as all of them will be looking to position themselves for playing time this year; and the backup defensive linemen, including Eugene Sims, Ethan Westbrooks, and Louis-Trinca Pasat, among others, who are fighting for potential playing time now that veteran depth players like Kendall Langford and Alex Carrington are no longer on the roster.
