Rams, Chargers, Raiders All Make Presentation at Owners Meeting for LA

Earlier today in Chicago, the NFL hosted a meeting that allowed the St Louis Rams, San Diego Chargers, and the Oakland Raiders a chance to present their cases for the possible move to Los Angeles. All the presentations went pretty well, according to a source who was there, and it seems many new things have been learned after the meetings took place.

For example, San Diego and Oakland surprised a few by stating in their presentation they were “fully committed to LA”, which disappointed many fans of both teams, hoping their interest would lie in their home markets.

San Diego has pretty much cut off talks with the Chargers. The Chargers appear to be fed up, and the city is doing little to stop them from moving. Oakland did present a presentation to keep the team, but the Raiders organization stated today that the city hasn’t done anything worthwhile to keep them around.

With both of those markets begging for a new stadium with no viable options, (at the moment) Rams owner Stan Kroenke presented a “passionate” presentation about why St Louis has not worked out as a market.

I’m not going to comment on why this was silly of him, so I will leave these here:

Truthfully, it probably didn’t help Kroenke’s case when trying to explain why St Louis is a bad market, when he has not put a winning team on the field yet in his four year ownership span. It also doesn’t help that he has done nothing to contact St Louis about the new stadium. He won’t return their phone calls, or speak to anyone about anything. The NFL will likely not be too pleased how he has handled this situation.

The Carson Project did gain some steam, proposing eight acres of land for “NFL related activities” which impressed the committee. Carson also used a strong point of favoring exactly what Goodell wants, which is two teams in LA, and all three teams getting new stadiums without putting four football teams in a 100 mile area.

Kroenke did impress also, with his speech on a stadium he can fund entirely by himself. Both Kroenke and Rams President Kevin Demoff presented the new project and why they should be allowed to relocate.

The relocation vote is likely to be held in January, before the super bowl.
