Missouri Tigers Add Junior College DB Anthony Hines
The Missouri Tigers took advantage of an unusual situation on Monday by making an unusual move. With junior college offensive tackle Tyler Howell unable to join the Tigers for the 2015 season due to academic issues, the Tigers added College of San Mateo defensive back Anthony Hines as a scholarship player for this year. Hines, who committed during an official visit, is expected to transfer from San Mateo in time to play for the Tigers this year, though it seems possible that he’ll be in line for a redshirt season as he attempts to learn the Tigers’ defense and get familiar with their strength and conditioning program.

Hines will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after collecting 27 tackles and three interceptions over 11 games in his freshman season at San Mateo. He joins a group of scholarship cornerbacks that also includes projected starters Kenya Dennis and Aarion Penton as well as John Gibson, Logan Cheadle, Finis Strobling IV, and T.J. Warren. Redshirt freshman Ray Wingo, who started working at wide receiver during spring workouts, could still end up back at his initial position of cornerback if playing time doesn’t present itself for him at wideout.
