Missouri Releases Non-Conference Basketball Schedule
Missouri has not had the greatest run of it in men’s basketball lately. The Tigers went 8-20 in Kim Anderson’s first year at the helm, and have lost two of their leading scorers in Johnathan Williams III and Montaque Gill-Caesar. Despite their recent troubles, the show must go on for the Missouri Tigers. To this end, they have released their 2015-16 non-conference schedule, and it is a doozy. The schedule is as follows:
- November 6 – vs Missouri Western (exhibition)
- November 13 – vs Wofford (CBE Hall of Fame Classic)
- November 15 – vs Maryland-Eastern Shore (CBE Hall of Fame Classic)
- November 17 – at Xavier
- November 23 – vs Kansas State (CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center)
- November 24 – vs North Carolina or Northwestern (CBE Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center)
- December 1 – vs Arkansas State
- December 4 – vs Northern Illinois
- December 9 – vs Nebraska-Omaha
- December 13 – at Arizona
- December 19 – vs North Carolina State
- December 23 – vs Illinois at the Scottrade Center
- December 29 – vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff
- January 2 – vs Savannah State
Six of the above are within the RPI Top 100, and multiple teams went to NCAA tournament last year. The only team that is a real cupcake game is Savannah State; in their last two meetings, Mizzou has thrashed Savannah State by a combined score of 164-94. Otherwise, this is a fairly meaty schedule.

The obvious big challenges are Arizona are North Carolina, but one should not count out NC State or Xavier. NC State made a mockery of a big teams last season, downing three top 15 opponents over the course of the regular season before their run to the Sweet Sixteen. That run, of course, involved knocking off top-seeded Villanova. Xavier finished 9th in assists and also made the Sweet Sixteen.
Missouri has, for a team with their struggles, given themselves quite a schedule. The Tigers will have a big challenge ahead of them if they want to reach the mark of 8-20 they reached last year.
