Grichuk Lifts Cardinals Over Reds in the Thirteenth

The St Louis Cardinals phenom does it again. After falling down 3-0 in the second game of the series against the division rival Reds, Cardinals rookie outfielder Randal Grichuk does exactly what everyone expects him to:

Lead a come from behind win.

Grichuk doubled off the very top of the wall in the sixth inning to score Bourjos. The ball missed home run distance by mere inches. This would put Matt Carpenter to third, which allowed him to score on Jhonny Peralta’s single shortly after.

Matt Carpenter, who you might have noticed is on a hot streak of late, would go on to homer in the top of the eighth, tying the game at three apiece. The game would ultimately go into the thirteenth inning, where Grichuk would once again come up to bat.

Grichuk connected, and this time he made sure he had enough distance. The home run would be the winning run in the game, as the Cardinals won the game 4-3.

Grichuk is one of the best among rookies. At this rate, he has a great shot to win the rookie of the year award, as he helped St Louis stay in front of a tough division on Wednesday night. Grichuk has arguably the best offensive stats in this years entire rookie class. Riding an extremely high on base percentage.

Grichuk is batting .391 in his last seven games, and will look to have his fourth consecutive multi-hit game tomorrow morning when the Cardinals finish the series in Cincinnati.  First pitch will commence at 11:35 A.M.
