Todd Gurley Expected to be Placed on NFI List

In a move that really shocks nobody, the St. Louis Rams expect to place running back Todd Gurley on the non-football injury list to begin camp. Gurley has mentioned several times that he would be ready to go for training camp, and he very well might be, but the St. Louis Rams are in no way going to take that risk with the tenth overall pick.

The Rams already have stacked backfield with Tre Mason, Benny Cunningham, and a load of undrafted talent fighting for a roster spot, so no need to rush Gurley for anything. The great thing about the non football injury list is that they can take him off this list anytime they please. So it’s safe to assume Gurley will be ready for preseason action.

Jeff Fisher claims there have been no setbacks with the ACL that Gurley tore back in November, and Gurley seems to do fine with his one-on-one workouts to the side. (Back in OTA’s)

All of the clues seem to add up to a resolution that Gurley will be ready come mid-August or early September. This is exciting news considering the rumors back in April were that Gurley might not even play this year. (Fisher said he might “hold him out for the season” if he had too)

Most Rams fans have high expectations of running backs with Steven Jackson, Marshall Faulk, Eric Dickerson, and Jerome Bettis in the team’s past, so safe to say they are excited to see their new superstar in action.
