NFL Meets With Stadium Task Force
By Nic Moody
More positive news arrives about the St. Louis Rams future in St. Louis. According to Bernie Miklasz of the STL Post Dispatch, NFL executive vice president Eric Grubman visited St. Louis on Thursday to meet with Dave Peacock and Bob Blitz, who are the St. Louis Stadium task force leaders.
The meeting lasted about four hours, and during that time, Peacock and Blitz presented updates on the proposed Riverfront Stadium’s financing, more details on how the stadium will be designed, and the increased land acquisition along the riverfront that will supposedly be for “more than just the stadium”.
Peacock was extremely optimistic after the meeting, stating that he got very positive feedback from Eric Grubman and also stated he knows he still has plenty more work to do. Peacock also stated he feels very confident that St Louis will keep the Rams.
In the wake of this, Stan Kroenke’s proposed Inglewood stadium is under investigation for possibly being a air-traffic hazard. It is not expected to be when the tests are done, but the city is requiring the test for safety reasons.
San Diego and Oakland continue to get nothing from their home cities. San Diego has basically told the team to not let the door hit them on the way out, and the Raiders stadium plan was poorly received, requiring nearly half a million dollars of public money. This leaves the proposed Carson Stadium an even better option for the two teams, and the NFL.
No team has filed for re-location yet, but teams are expected to come this fall.
