Missouri defensive tackle Harold Brantley will be out for the entire 2015 season, according to multiple reports. The Mizzou Tigers Breakout star was involved in a car accident at the end of June, in which his car flipped over after striking a guard rail. Brantley was in the car for 10 minutes before police responded and pulled him out of the vehicle.

Brantley suffered multiple rib injuries, and also has serious damage done to the ligaments in his knee. Brantley also has suffered a broken left leg and a crack in his right shoulder. According to reports, Brantley has the opportunity to come back fully healthy, but he will have to do so in his senior year, as there is no chance he can heal before the season begins in August.

Brantley helped Missouri get to an impressive 11-3 record last year, recording 54 tackles and five sacks. This leaves a huge hole in Missouri’s defense, as the Tigers will now have four new starters on defensive line, as if playing in the SEC wasn’t already tough enough.

Head coach Gary Pinkel told reporters that he truly believes Brantley would have been one of the best players in the country this season, likely making him a high draft pick in next years draft if he had chosen to declare. Pinkel also told reporters that Brantley is “lucky to be alive” and knows he can return for the 2016 season.

Brantley is obviously lucky to be alive, and will have an excellent Missouri fan-base to support him as he begins an extremely long and hard climb to recovery.
